Record points in Serie A: Juve on the top step of the podium

We know that some coaches have passed away, but their deeds remain in the hearts of the fans and in the football hall of fame. It also happens when we open one of them. “Record points in a season in Serie A” and here the name and team are very clear. Especially since they’ve held this record for 10 years. We are talking about Antonio Conte and Juventus, who won the Scudetto by setting a new record of points in Serie A: 102 in the 2013/14 season.

These 102 points were achieved as follows: 33 wins, 2 losses and 3 draws In 38 championship days. Mind-boggling numbers, considering that Juve managed to reach the semi-finals of the Europa League that season, only to lose to Benfica. The Conte – Vecchia Signora partnership did not last very long, from 2011 to 2014, but the Apulian coach broke the Serie A points record and even reached three figures in his final year on the Juventus bench.

In Italy, no one has succeeded yet. If instead we expand the borders into Europe, Berry Town and Celtic are the teams with record points in one season. The Welsh club was successful twice, in the 1996/97 and 1997/98 seasons, reaching 105 and 104 points respectively. Celtic “only” had 103 points in the 2001/02 season.

The fight between Juve and Inter for the most points in the championship

We can define Juve as a stable name in the record points ranking in Serie A. In fact, they are not only on the first step of the podium, but also in third and fourth place. In this case it was there Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus Starting from the 2015/16 season, he not only won the Scudetto for 3 consecutive years, but also increased his final score: 91 points in the first 2 seasons and 95 points in the 2017/18 season.

In second place is Roberto Mancini’s Inter. The Nerazzurri established themselves well in the 2006/07 season 97 points scored in a single championship. To put it bluntly, this was Figo and Ibrahimovic, Maicon and Vieira’s Inter, and Mihajlovic’s assistant to the former Azzurri coach.

However, Allegri’s Juventus was not the only one to reach 91 points. In fact, it is Conte’s 4th personal scudetto in the 2020/21 season and Inter still have exactly the same score as Napoli in the 2017/18 season. THE The Neapolitans came second that year: 91 points were not enough to win the championship (Juve won), but it was enough to get into the rankings of teams with a points record in Serie A.
